Mental health affects all ages.

Psychiatric symptoms and conditions can be debilitating and make a severe impact on a person's quality of life; nobody should have to live this way. Elderly care can be one of the most delicate situations for families to navigate through, for both the individual and their loved ones. As mental health symptoms arise, it can begin to feel overwhelming. Co-occurring diagnoses can often obscure other underlying issues, making it difficult to see a mental health diagnosis.

These diagnoses can include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, and more. Even further, these illnesses can manifest themselves in both physical and mental habits. Feelings of sadness, anxiety, depression, and anger are common for many aging adults. Seniors endure more deaths of life-long friends and loved ones, fear of losing their independence, and endure more social isolation. These life-altering events lead to an ambiguity between what constitutes "circumstantial blues" and what are actual mental disorders. Finding the true extent of mental health diagnoses can help clarify why symptoms are presenting and how to alleviate them.

At iTrust Wellness Group, we look beyond the surface to assess where the patient is truly at, giving a holistic approach to senior care. Through time with the provider, detailed appointments, and successful medication management, elderly clients can feel secure in their treatment plan and in taking steps to ensure their mental wellness.

Our clinicians visit elderly clients every two or four weeks, in the comfort of their residence. Mental health medication management in the older population is a delicate process - we want to ensure medications and treatment are adjusted in a methodical and conscientious manner. We work closely with medical providers to coordinate care and attempt to reduce the amount of medications that are prescribed.
